- 4 cups cooked elbow macaroni (from about 2 cups dried)
- 3 Tbsp. unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp. unsalted butter
- 1 cup nonfat bitter cream
- 1 1⁄2 cups nonfat milk
- 2 cups shredded reduced-fat cheddar cheese
- 1 egg, evenly crushed
- 1⁄4 cup corn flake crumbs or ¼ cup dried breadcrumbs
- 1⁄2 tsp. paprika
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
- 1⁄2 tsp. salt
- Coat a 2-quart casserole with nonstick spray. Preheat the oven to 350 levels F.
- In a medium saucepan, soften butter then stir within the mustard, flour, salt and paprika.
- Slowly pour within the milk, whisking repeatedly till there are not any lumps within the flour. Proceed stirring with a whisk, elevate the warmth, and cook dinner till the milk thickens and begin to bubble. Take away from the stovetop and stir within the egg, bitter cream and cheese.
- In a bowl, toss the cheese combination and the macaroni collectively after which pour it into the casserole. Prime with the cornflake crumbs.
